Hua Shan (華山)

One of many sacred mountains.

Due to Daoism's emphasis on the mystical power of nature it is not especially surprising that they would have mountains as sacred locations. Hua Shan is one of them.

According to Daoist legend the rocks at Hua Shan are engraved with poems on its history. For centuries, Daoists have worshiped on these mountains just for its beauty. During times of war, Chinese emperors would go up to  such mountains to offer sacrifices in hopes for a safe journey. Today, there are seventy-two meditation caves and twenty-one Daoist ruins available for visitation.
