Kusinara

The place where Buddha finally passes away after reaching Nirvana.

Company Name

At eighty years of age Gautama Buddha actually predicted his death as he reached the village of Kusinara. "The nature of things dictates that we must leave those dear to us. Everything born contains its own cessation," said Buddha as he comforted his loyal follower, Ananda.

Like any of the other locations for a Buddhist pilgrimage, followers are asked to visit each of the four as Buddha had dictated. Several countries have established a name for themselves here, especially Japan, China, and other places in which Buddhism is popular. Followers from these countries have contributed to sites such as Kusinara and at the other three sites for pilgrimage as well.
