Varanasi

 India's religious capital.

One of the holiest of pilgrimages in the whole of Hinduism, the city gets its name from two rivers: the Varuna and the Assi. The city of Varanasi itself is the land in between the two rivers thought to be created by Shiva and his wife, Parvati.

Many Hindus travel to Varanasi to experience oneness in the body and soul. Several dedicated temples can be found inside. Originally, this ancient city was called the city of Shiva and Ganga, but it has gone through several name changes over time. This is because the city is not just all about the spiritual but also about heritage, learning, and music. Because of this, Varanasi attracts not only Hindus but non-Hindus as well.
